Educating those who don’t know for those who can’t tell.
Putting an end to puppy mills begins with you.

What you can do to help stop puppy mills:

bullet

Boycott any pet store that sells puppies.  Clarify with pet store employees and managers that they don’t get dogs from a local shelter or humane society and walk away.  Simply do not purchase from the store.

bullet

Spread the word about puppy mills.  It’s a lot easier that it seems, and the more people that know, the more voices to spread the word.

bullet

Support organizations that fight to end puppy mills.  Donate to these organizations, wear their t-shirts or drink from their coffee mugs at work (great conversation starters).  Step up and become a part of an organization that helps fight mills.  All organizations are looking for volunteers, and the jobs are endless.

bullet

Adopt from a local shelter or humane society.  Many states already have huge pet overpopulations and have to put thousands of unwanted animals to sleep each year.  There are a huge variety of dogs available at local shelters and humane societies, and most usually screen their dogs for behavioral problems before giving them the “ok” to be adopted out.

bullet

Volunteer at a local shelter or humane society.  Even for an hour one day a week.  They can really use your help!
